Sun Glitters started in March 2011. After recording music with my previous project for over 12 years, I felt I needed some creative changes so started making music under the moniker Sun Glitters. The idea was to create a new identity but also to keep some elements of my old project, since these parts are what make Sun Glitters the artist I am today. A sort of collecting all positive points from the past 12 years of experience and experimentations and using them to evolve creatively.
What difficulties have you faced as a budding musician and producer?
For me it was always to promote my works and find dates to play.
But with Sun Glitters I'm a little bit more lucky because I've been surrounded by lots of people who are interested in my sound
and so make things easier, like having a booking agency who help you finding dates and PR's who help you promoting your music
to great online magazines and blogs who spread the word!!!
The internet was also a postive step for me! 12 years ago, the internet wasn’t as developed like it is Today! Today you have plenty of nice platforms for example like SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Facebook, Twitter, etc…
That allow you to connect with many people. With one click you send a message or advertisement around the world in a second. It’s is also very efficient. When you are a busy guy, believe me that helps a lot!

It is interesting to know how you perceived the music business when you first became involved and how your perception of it has changed over time.
This is not really my thing, the business part! That's why I'm trying to work as best as I can with a manager, PR's and booking agencies.It is really new to me and there's so much to learn about that… It's a part time job, and my job is producing music. I remember when I played some showcases
at the Midem for example, I was lost in the middle of the big music industry convention. And to be honest, I was there for 4 days waiting my turn to play my showcase by spending my time in drinking some beers
and producing some sounds whilst being surrounded by lots of people talking about money.
What is your position on the participation of well-known musicians in political campaigns? Do you think it is their personal position or one more occasion for their own PR?
To be honest I don't know and especially don't like talking about this… So I respect everyone's choices and point of view. But for me I would never mix these two things!
But yes, I'm sure that there are some who use it as their own PR… Today when I see how they manage all this mainstream business and remember when I was 8 years old…

Tell me, what is your opinion concerning the further development of the music business? Do you need intermediaries like record companies or online stores such as the iTunes Music Store? I mean, if you want to be sold you must sign a contract with a company that has a contract with the Music Store. So the independent musician does not automatically falls into the large distribution system...
Today it is much easier to get your music our there! Artists are able to control most aspects of their music making and sales with the use of computers and the internet. There are some really great online platforms that are very user friendly that allow you to promote your music all over the world. One of my favorite is Bandcamp. You can use it as a website and online shop at the same time.
But like I told you before, this is all new to me and business it is not yet my thing! I need to learn more things about this and who knows maybe later I will manage everything by myself…
I don’t even know what is independent musical scene in Luxembourg look like... Could you give me an insight into the diversity of the independent music scene in Luxembourg? What music is the most popular in there?
The media in Luxembourg is not big enough to promote and spread the word worldwide.
The scene has grown more and more over the past few years but it is still small. The media in Luxembourg is not big enough to promote and spread the word worldwide.
It's more of a country with a rock culture. As an electronic producer I/we have about 3-4 nice places to perform our music. We also have some people who enjoy our music who work
at radio stations, magazines and newspapers who promote the small independent scene in Luxembourg.
But for sure, we also have really nice bands/artists going from rock to electronic!
What is your opinion about the phenomenon of 'pay what you want', which is now gaining popularity? When the musicians spread their releases for free download or the ability to make a donation. In general.
Personally I like that! I have some releases where I apply this payment form and I'm positively surprised how honest people are and especially how they love also to support their favorite artists!
In any case, today you can easily grab any music you want with piracy! And for me applying the ‘pay what you want’ will work in the same way as piracy but in a more honest way. Living from music it is not by selling your records but by playing live shows. Selling your stuff today it is more as an promo stuff! It is very difficult to find real music lovers who are always searching
for new music and who really want the physical product!
New technologies like mp3 players & cellphones has really effected the physical product (Cd's, Vinyls & cassettes). However, more recently I’ve seen a resurgence in the demand for Cassettes and vinyl, which is great.
Victor, why do you think it is that people voluntarily pay for music that is available freely?
Taking me as an example, I always pay for it just because I know the amount of work that is behind a production and it's always a pleasure to support an artist in as many ways as possible!
It's a way to show that you respect and love his work. Paying for the music also enables the artist to continue producing great music.
You know to produce great music you need material, and material costs money! And for me that's one of the good reasons to support artists!

Let's return to music. What do you work on now? Any special plans for the nearest future?
There is a 7" coming out very soon on Lefse Records with 2 new songs + remixes by Shigeto, Life & Limb, Blackbird Blackbird and Twin Empire.
With LebensStrasse Records with are also planing to re-release my ‘Cosmic Oceans EP’ featuring Steffaloo with bonus tracks and remixes on a 12".
And I'm working hard on my new album, continuing to make remixes, touring around the world and working on building up new ways to play my forthcoming live shows…
How do you see yourself in the future?

What should listeners expect from you on performance in Russia?
A great show. I will do my best to create a musical reality where the audience can enjoy some great moments of music!
