All in the Golden Afternoon's LP Magic Lighthouse on the Infinite Sea will be released on 16 May 2011. The album is limited to 250 vinyl copies with gatefold cover in addition to digital download.
The record was recorded and mixed at home in Austin, Texas, USA and features 11 tracks composed by bandmates Rachel Staggs and Carlos Jackson. The LP also features guest appearances by Yvonne Lambert (Octopus Project) and Chad Merritt (St. Mary's) and artwork by acclaimed Italian artist Iker Spozio (Ptolemaic Terascope).
Rachel Staggs, vocalist/guitarist for Experimental Aircraft & founder of Rollerderby Records has marked the 10th anniversary of her record label by giving it a name change. Magic Lighthouse on the Infinite Sea is being released on Rachel's new imprint, Magic Lighthouse Recordings.
All in the Golden Afternoon recently returned from a tour of the Czech Republic and Slovakia in March. After the shows, they continued recording in London with Domino artist Ulrich Schnauss. The first sample of their collaboration is available on Rocket Girl's "3…2…1…" compilation, released 24 January 2011. Upon returning to the states, the duo also DJ'd at the fourth annual Austin Psych Fest.
The band toured Western Europe in 2009, with a showcase during SOY Festival in France, and played SXSW and Austin Psych Fest in 2010. In addition to writing for All in the Golden Afternoon and Experimental Aircraft, Rachel has contributed vocals to Monster Movie and was invited to sing with Chapterhouse on their North American reunion tour last year.
Combining their impressive credentials in some of the most unique and talented bands in town, the husband and wife duo of All in the Golden Afternoon produce a hauntingly beautiful tapestry of dreamy psychedelic moods.
LP is available on their bandcamp page. Unfortunately, we can not put it in our 'free release' category because it is not free. But we want to present the creativity of this duo in our magazine.
